SkinLately vs TroveSkin

Checked 2026-08-15 against troveskin.com — archived copy · written by a competitor · no affiliate links · who writes this

The short answer

If you are looking for a TroveSkin alternative, the first thing to know is dated: on 5 September 2026 troveskin.com no longer resolved to TroveSkin, and we could not find a current App Store or Google Play listing under that name. Everything below describes the app as its own site described it on 11 July 2026 — longest-running in our table, on Android as well as iPhone, journalling triggers like diet, stress and sleep. SkinLately is iPhone-only, not released yet, and journals nothing, so on platform alone it is not a replacement for an Android user.

The "what it reads" row uses TroveSkin's own wording rather than ours. The vocabulary an app picks is one of the more informative things about it, and it is vocabulary we do not use ourselves.

What TroveSkin does better

The longest-running of the group, on both platforms, with trigger journalling (diet, stress, sleep) that none of the scan-first apps do.

Longevity in this category is itself information: an app that has been running for years has a data history no new product can offer, and if yours is in there, that is a genuine cost of moving. Trigger journalling is also the thing we most often get asked for and most consistently decline, because a mood-and-diet log is a different product with different privacy consequences.

Where we went the other way

  1. Two platforms versus one. They were on iPhone and Android; we are iPhone-only with no Android version planned. For a large share of people looking for an alternative that single row used to end the comparison, and it is the row we can no longer re-check.
  2. A journal versus a reading. Theirs is photo comparison plus what you tell it about your life. Ours is a reading the app takes, with almost nothing typed in. Self-reported context is powerful and it is also the part of any log people abandon first.
  3. Free to download versus a subscription. They are free to download with in-app purchases we could not verify; ours is a paid subscription with a three-day trial. Where a price was not confirmable we left it unconfirmed rather than repeating a number from a third-party page.

What we could not verify. TroveSkin's in-app purchases are the field we could not confirm even when the site was up, and it stays blank. Naming a price we had not seen would be the single easiest way to make this page wrong, and a wrong price about a competitor is the kind of error that deserves to cost a site its credibility.

Availability re-checked, and unconfirmed. Re-checked on 5 September 2026: troveskin.com no longer resolves to TroveSkin — it returns a redirect to an unrelated commercial site — and we could not find a current App Store or Google Play listing under that name. We are not in a position to say what that means, so its row in this table is what the live site said on 11 July 2026, cited to the archived copy, and its availability is unconfirmed.

Where SkinLately is worse

It is not released. Ours is an iPhone app in development with no App Store listing. We also publish no figure for how far our own reading moves when nothing has changed — that study is still collecting — and we journal nothing, name nothing, and recommend nothing, all of which are features somewhere else in this table.

Frequently asked

Is there an Android alternative to TroveSkin here?

Not from us. SkinLately is iPhone-only and there is no Android version planned. TroveSkin was the only row in our table on both platforms, and as of 5 September 2026 we could not confirm it is still available, so this table has nothing to offer an Android user at all. We would rather say that than send you to an iPhone app you cannot install.

Does TroveSkin recommend products?

Yes, recorded as yes against its own site on 15 August 2026 and still visible in the archived copy this page cites. We do not, and we take no affiliate commission from anyone, including from the apps on this page.

Would my history move across?

No. Nothing in this category exports into anything else, ours included, and anyone telling you otherwise is describing a feature nobody has built. Moving apps means starting a new Day 1, which is a real cost and worth counting.

Is this TroveSkin comparison neutral?

No, and pretending otherwise would be the dishonest version. It is written by a competitor. What we can offer instead of neutrality we do not have is checkable facts: every row above came from a source TroveSkin controls, read on 2026-08-15 and linked at the bottom of this page, and every gap says "not verified" instead of being filled in. There are no affiliate links here and nobody paid to be included. The full table puts all 8 apps on the same rows.

We cite, we do not endorse. None of the sources below has any relationship with SkinLately, and none of them has reviewed this page.
